Wow! Totally Improved Contact Handling, For Youth Teams and Everyone

Phew!

We’ve done a massive overhaul of how TeamSnap handles email addresses, phone numbers and additional contacts on the Roster. It’s sophisticated, flexible and powerful and we think you’re going to love it. It eliminates some of the workarounds that youth teams have had to make to get multiple parents listed with their kids, and for anyone with extra email addresses, phone numbers or cell phones it’s going to make your TeamSnap experience better too.

Part 1: Unlimited Emails

Previously, in order to list multiple emails on the Roster you had to separate them in one field with a comma. This was inconvenient, ugly and occasionally buggy. Under the new system, you can add an unlimited number of email addresses for your roster record, each neatly in its own field, and with a label so you can differentiate between home, work and alternate emails. For each email, you can decide whether to make it public to the rest of your team or private to just you and your team manager(s). AND you can decide for each email address whether it receives team emails. You have complete control.

Part 2: Unlimited Phone Numbers

We’ve also changed how phone numbers are handled so you can list unlimited phones with your Roster record. Home, work, mobile, fax, toll-free, office, Skype … no matter how many phone numbers you have, now you can list them all, each with its own label. And if you have multiple cell phones, you can decide for each one whether it receives text messages from the team.

Part 3: Unlimited Contacts

Here’s where it gets really cool (and especially useful for youth teams). You can also list unlimited contacts with each Roster record. Add completely separate contact information (name, address, phones, emails) for Dad, Mom, Grandma, spouse, legal guardian or anyone you want listed with your Roster record. And just like the main Roster record, each of those additional contacts can have unlimited phones and emails.

All three of these new features give you a ton of flexibility. No more workarounds to get just the information you need listed for your team. But it’s going to get much cooler next month when we roll out…

Part 4: COMING SOON … Multiple Logins

You asked for it and it’s coming … multiple logins per Roster. Here’s the issue: A lot of TeamSnap users are youth teams where BOTH parents need access to their child’s team. But in many cases, for security or privacy reasons, the parents don’t want to share their TeamSnap login with each other. Coming soon, you’ll be able to take each of those additional contacts you’ve listed and give them their own login access to your Roster record. Both Mom and Dad will be able to manage Junior’s TeamSnap record, each with their own private login. We’ll update you when this feature is ready to roll out, but to get ready for it, make sure to start adding those additional contacts to your Roster.

Phew! Deep breath. This is a major overhaul of TeamSnap contacts and we hope you love it. Try it out, see the possibilities and let us know if this makes TeamSnap an even better tool for you and your team. Happy playing!

Thanks! These new changes are AWESOME!

Great job! This is a really nice enhancement to the site. Keep up the fantastic work. However, to make sure I understand:

Does this mean I will be able to convert the parents “non-player” logins to be linked to their kid? It sure would be great to have them only show up under their kid’s name and not in the “non-player” section of the roster.

It sounds like they will then be able to edit their kid’s information. This will be a big help because some kids do not have emails and therefore do not have a login.

Yes, once the new multiple login feature goes live next month you will most likely want to remove the parents from the roster as non-players and instead list them as additional contacts with their kid.

Thanks Andrew – this is perfect and a great enhancement. The site keeps getting better and better.

I like the new changes, but the new contacts under a player are not showing up when I try to “Text the Team”. I double checked to make sure the contact was enabled for texting.

These are great features. One odd thing I’ve experienced is that when I (as a manager) attempt to add a contact to a player it appears that the contact is going to be added to *my* profile: the heading says “New Contact Person for “

Brock — Please check again. If the feature still does not appear to be working, please contact Support and we’ll take a look. Thanks!

Thanks Ben … the contact was being added to the right person, but we had a little labeling bug. This is now fixed. Thanks for calling it to our attention!

Hi. I also love the new capability to associate additional e-mail addresses with a player. Unfortunately I clicked on the “Add another email address” button and I am getting an error message telling me that “one or more e-mail addresses was not saved. Check formatting and enter only one address per field.”

I REALLY want there to be a separation between regular season games and tournaments. Right now all that can be posted as results are mixed if you want to put tourney result scores and regular season scores. It would be nice to have an extra box that can show tourney results separately from season results.

I’m looking forward to the multiple logins per player option next month! On the flip side, we also run into scenarios where a team has both a player and a coach or manager, but both share a single email address. Is there a way to have both accounts activated (on the same team)? If not, is this in the works? Thanks!

any plans on a mobile friendly version of Team Snap to look up availability and scheduling information?

Andrew Berkowitz

Yes, we are definitely planning a mobile version of TeamSnap!

Andrew Berkowitz

Wendy, we’re working on a solution for this. Thanks!

Andrew Berkowitz

Paula, if the problem persists, please contact our Support team for assistance. Thanks!

I think I’ve got a similar issue to Wendy’s — my t-ball team has 5 sets of siblings. Ideally, mom or dad could manage each child’s (player’s) profile with one login. Any idea when a solution might be available? Thanks!
